The Indian Premier League is finally coming returning. IPL 2020 was postponed multiple times in the past couple of months and there were even rumors that it wouldn’t take place at all. The initial tournament was scheduled to start on March 29th, 2020, but had to be put on halt due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

However, the BCCI announced that the tournament would actually take place from September 19th until November 10th, 2020. The competition is now set to take place in the United Arab Emirates and all upcoming matches of the tournament have been confirmed on September 6th, 2020.

Even though the official opening ceremony was canceled for a second year in a row due to the current pandemic, the tournament is set to become a huge success. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is expecting a surge in viewership for the upcoming 13th edition of the format. Basically all of the matches are going to take place in the primetime TV slots in India.

Moreover, there will be lots of world-famous players taking part in IPL 2020. Despite several blockbuster names such as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Rishabh Pant, all 21 Australian and English players of the competition will be arriving at the tournament in the UAE as well. All teams with Australian and English players will undergo just 36 hours of quarantine instead of the previously planned six days timespan.

IPL 2020 Teams

There will be eight teams playing in IPL 2020. The eight franchises Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kings XI Punjab will be going head-to-head and try to win the trophy.

Currently, it seems like IPL 2020 is going to be an extremely close competition. Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings are amongst the favorites, however, the gap between the other teams is really close. IPL 2020 Venues

The Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium has a capacity of 20,000 and is the second-largest venue. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium is the smallest stadium of the competition with a capacity of 17,000.

IPL 2020 Tournament Structure

The first matches of the competition will be played in a league phase that starts on September 19th. The final match of the league phase takes place on November 3rd when the Mumbai Indians face Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the league stage has ended, playoffs will be coming up. The schedule for the playoffs, however, has yet to be announced.

IPL 2020 Schedule

The IPL 2020 schedule was released on September 6th and it is packed with lots of exciting matches. The 13th edition of the competition however is going to take place in the UAE. The Mumbai Indians, who are the defending champions, will be taking on the Chennai Super Kings.
