Rolling the pitch

Each team’s captain can request the rolling of the pitch for a period of not more than 7 minutes before the start of each innings. Once a match has started, however, rolling is not allowed unless some special circumstances occur.

 

 

Prior to a cricket pitch being rolled it is swept to prevent any potential damages that can be caused by rolling in debris. Moreover, the pitch is also cleared of debris at all breaks for meals, in between innings and at the beginning of each day of play.

 

Cricket Pitch Practice

Cricket players may not practice bowling or batting on the cricket pitch or any area parallel and adjacent to the pitch.
