SK Telecom T1

Sk Telecom T1 is an eSports team, supported and sponsored by the South Korean telecommunication company SK Telecom. The organization is best known for their incredible League of Legends team, three-time winner ofWorlds, the most prestigious LoL event. The team, anchored by mid-laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, won the World Championship in 2013, 2015 and 2016, and is considered one of the best teams of all time. The eSports division is part of SK Sports, a project which also includes baseball and basketball teams.

League of Legends

As we already mentioned, SK Telecom has a team in the MOBA – League of Legends. Previously, the company sponsored two sister teams, S and K. If will be really interesting if the organization decide to sponsor teams in other eSports disciplines like Counter-Strike Global Offensive or Dota 2. If the do it, we are sure that the domination of the current best Asian teams in the region will be challenged.

SK Telecom T1 History

The team has incredible history so far. Everything started back in 2012 when the organization acquired the roster of Eat Sleep Game. The line up consists Reapered, H0R0, MighTiLy, UandME, and StarLast. This line-up does not last very long and in 2013, everything went in another direction with a new roster. With it, the team took part in the Season 3 of the League of Legends.

Season 3

With Faker, bengi, Piglet, PoohManDu, and Impact, the team won the Season 3 World Championship and then had a perfect season in the Winter Champions 2013-2014..

Season 4

SK Telecom competed in LoL Masters 2014. The organization had a 6-0 set record in the round robin, with a 14-4 game record. In the playoffs, they were seeded directly into the finals but then lost unexpected 0-3 to Samsung Galaxy, placing second overall.

Season 5

In November 2014, it was announced that Korean teams could no longer have two separate rosters, and SK Telecom T1’s teams disbanded, reforming a single team simply called SK Telecom T1. On May 2nd, SK Telecom T1 won 1st place in 2015 LCK Spring with a score of 3-0 in a best of 5 series against the ROX Tigers. Later that year, the team won the 2015 World Championship, and become the first professional eSports team to win more than one World title.
